Keep wearing those summer favorites to add a splash of sunshine as the brilliantly colored leaves lose their luster and begin their closed loop system back to the earth. Read on for seasonless how-to hacks.
Capsule wardrobes are built on a few, high quality pieces that can seamlessly transition into many outfits. The other side of that is embracing not having to flaunt so many different looks. Insert side rant: #1) Wear what you like, #2) Like what you wear, and #3) Don’t think you have to wear 100 different looks if you really only relate to 10.
In fact, in the olden golden days, we only wore one dress while the other dress was in the wash. If we were lucky, a third dress would be set aside for Sunday Best. Ask yourself: If I had to own just 3 outfits, would I be wearing what I have on right now? (Why am I not wearing one of my top 3 choices? Why not?)
Here we go: Do you see a fall scene? I have worn this wax print skirt throughout the summer, and simply can’t put it away. The yellow top is, in fact, a lightweight jersey knit dress. I’m perfectly warm inside this borrowed man’s suit jacket. (Thank you, Husband!)
Here is how I wore it on a cooler summer day, with a wide brim hat (for attitude.)
Tucked or untucked? (Only those over a certain age know the Seinfeld scene.) The example I showed tucks in a lightweight dress. How about wearing it hanging over the pants or skirt?
The skirt/dress over pants trend is great for getting extra use out of those summer dresses. And, as always, the white button down shirt. (Cry me a river, but that linen staple will not be getting treated to the iron. I am who I am.)
Here is how I wore the same dress in the summer. Do I always wear hats?
I could simply wear my fall/winter staples as stand-alones, but… the pop of fun now and then. And summer clothes are just that; fun. Excuse me, I mean Seasonless. Because my capsule is Seasonless.
Save time, save money, save the planet. Buy better, buy less, go seasonless. Wear what you like, and like what you wear.
Cheers,
Laura
